"In 2000, I was pregnant with my first child. A day after my 20 week sonogram we discovered our child had Trisomy 13, a chromosome disorder which affects major organs. Upon hearing a diagnosis like this, we were devastated.
Fortunately, NJ OB GYN Dr. Jacoby (part of a group at the time) delivered Michael. He was the only doctor who really took the time to be there for us. He was genuinely concerned with our well being. Throughout the entire high risk pregnancy he was at my side, offering support. He delivered Michael Gerard on July 29, 2000. Michael passed away 4 days later. Not only was Dr. Jacoby there for us throughout the pregnancy, he continued to "check in" with us regularly to determine if Adam and I were alright.
I have tremendous respect for him, and I am grateful to have a NJ gynecologist who is so empathetic.
Having a good relationship with your OBGYN begins on the first visit. You ask yourself: "Do I feel comfortable?" and "Do I trust this doctor?" I recall interviewing Dr. Jacoby. I asked him how long he had been practicing and how many babies he had delivered. He was about my age and looked very young, so I felt I needed to find out his background. I needed to know these details in order to feel comfortable. Dr. Jacoby, who was probably embarrassed about my questioning, provided me with answers I needed.
Women need a NJ OB GYN who listens to them. Dr. Jacoby is that doctor. I never feel like a "number" and I never feel rushed during an appointment. He's attentive, he offers support and he is extremely thorough. Dr. Jacoby is also unique, because he gets to know his patients, and their families. Dr. Jacoby remembers important events, knows my children and calls me personally to provide test results. He is an extraordinary OBGYN in NJ. I recommend him to everyone I know."
