"Well, can I begin this by saying that he saved my life? I think I can.
When I was 37 years old I went in to see NJ OB GYN Dr. Jacoby for my annual appointment. I remember joking around with him about having a third baby so that he could deliver a baby of mine-we missed one another on my other deliveries.
He performed a breast examination and discovered a very small lump in my right breast. He immediately sent me for a mammogram and an ultrasound, and a biopsy was performed. The tumor was malignant. And so began the swirling journey of breast cancer for me and my family.
The surgeon at Sloan Kettering was astonished that this lump had been picked up with a routine gynecologist breast exam, she said "this is a tough lump to find, whoever found this knew what they were doing." My advice: Insist on your NJ gynecologist doing a breast examination every year. It saved my life.
Dr. Jacoby was with me every step of the way. He called me at home the minute I got the news. And, he even called me at Sloan Kettering when I had my bilateral mastectomy. He routinely checked in with me, answering all my questions. Most importantly, he listened to my worries and fears-and believe me, there were many!
His vigilance during my chemotherapy and radiation was life-saving. And his OBGYN NJ office staff helped me with insurance, appointments, and provided advice and counsel. The support and encouragement was endless.
